Elizabeth is originally from Martinez, California, a small Bay Area suburb just thirty minutes from San Francisco. After taking several intriguing International Business classes and attending the ICC in 2008, she became interested in leading the ICC in 2009. She views the ICC as an opportunity for students to make lasting relationships with prominent companies with the goal of obtaining valuable internships and career prospects. She feels that the ICC is not only important for International Business majors to attend, but it is additionally important for all students to learn about the varying effects of conducting business abroad, regardless of their major. Elizabeth interned with Hubbs & Associates Consulting Group which is based out of San Luis Obispo. The company focuses on business development through website development, marketing/advertising and staffing. Her experience with the company enabled her to practice communicating with different types of people who are very passionate about their careers. This has helped her to build the skills necessary to manage and coordinate a group of diverse individuals. She found a strong connection between her marketing curriculum and her on-the-job learning about the responsibilities of a product manager. The ICC has also led to her interest in working with people who come from diverse backgrounds and cultures, which she would like to incorporate into her life in the future. When not busy with the ICC, she spends her time cooking, shopping and drinking coffee. She loves traveling and has been throughout Mexico and several countries in Europe. She studied abroad in Spain where she was able to extensively practice her Spanish skills. She hopes to take a trip to Greece or Italy in the near future. |
